Dr. Joshua Lau

Joshua Lau is Managing Director of Hong Sheng Paper Industry Sdn Bhd, where he leads AI transformation initiatives across a traditional manufacturing operation, applying full-stack development skills to implement the changes he oversees. Alongside that role, he trains as an ACLP-certified and WSQ and HRDC accredited adult educator, having delivered generative AI, agentic AI and IAPP AIGP certification training to more than 1,000 learners across Singapore and Malaysia, including courses run through Singapore Management University Academy.

His career spans three decades across public policy and private industry. He formulated infocomm, broadcast and digital rights policy as Senior Manager at Singapore's Ministry of Digital Development and Information, then led Smart Cities consultancy work across second and third-tier Chinese cities as Center Director and Assistant Consul (Infocomm) in Shanghai, managing project values exceeding US$2.5 million. He went on to head the Services and Digital Economy division at the Asian Productivity Organization in Tokyo, served as Dean of Raffles Design Institute in Guangzhou, led business development for Vieunite in the United Kingdom, and headed the founder-focused Academy at IntelWave AI in Singapore before his current role in Malaysia.

He holds an EMBA with Distinction from Keble College, Oxford, a Doctor of Business Administration in Emerging Technologies and Generative AI from Golden Gate University, an MSc by research in Computational Chemistry from the National University of Singapore, and an LLB from the University of London.
